The term "Opioid free anesthesia," meaning anesthesia without the use of opioids, has been discussed for a long time in human anesthesia and has started to be discussed in veterinary medicine to some extent. But what are the actual objectives, advantages, and disadvantages of using or not using opioids in anesthetic or analgesic protocols?
