This tutorial explains how to solve the error message "Mesh contains root bone as root but animation doesn't contain the root track. Import failed." when importing a new animation for a skeleton already processed by the Mixamo Animation Retargeting 2 plugin for Unreal Engine 5 (MARKETPLACE: https://www.unrealengine.com/marketpl... )

That happens when trying to import a Mixamo animation for a skeleton asset that has already been retargeted using the "Mixamo Animation Retargeting" plugin for Unreal Engine. This error occurs due to the addition of a Root bone to the skeleton hierarchy that is required to support Root Motion animations. The animations from Mixamo don't have a track for this bone, so the import fails.

02:32 - Done, you can now use and retarget the new animations.
