Was exploring a concept for a game where I can control character, but at expected, this gets complicated so quickly , just to get him to climb over walls took me good 6 hours to develop , and I haven't figured out how to make him not attempt to climb something that's too tall
you need a lot of sets of animation for every kind of scenario ( at the end of video I'm holding right mouse button and the idea would be that the character would be looking / aiming at the the camera direction, but this means that I have to do all the strafe / walk back animations , and blend it all reasonably with the rest )
And this is just the tip of the iceberg, if I was to add weapons, this goes to whole another level
I can understand why it makes more sense to buy something that's already done - although there is a big problem with that too !! because you will likely not really understand how it works together and if you want to tweak something, you might have no idea where and how to continue
new respect to companies that do this in their games well, becase it's indeed a very complex and complicated system
