How to make a medieval copper seal. (Copper stamp)
In this video you can see how to make a matrix of a 13th century seal. This matrix was found inside the church of Sant Ponç.
In the legend you can read the name of Arnaldus Matero, that is, Arnau de Mataró. He was probably originally from this city and according to the documentation he was prior of the monastery of Sant Pere de Casserres. In the central part, a peacock appears, as a symbol.
The technique used is engraving. The shape of the seal is characteristic of the lower clergy of this period.
