In this video, we take an in-depth look at the works taking place across an eight-mile section of the HS2 route in West Northamptonshire, stretching from Greatworth through to Chipping Warden.
We’ll explore some of the key structures being delivered here that will carry high-speed trains safely through the region - including tunnels, viaducts, bridges, cuttings, and embankments.
This is a crucial section of the HS2 network, located almost halfway between the railway’s two infrastructure maintenance depots - Calvert (Buckinghamshire) and Washwood Heath (Birmingham) - and will play a vital role during trial operations of the new railway.
In this update, we focus on:
✅ The two longest green tunnels on the route – Greatworth Green Tunnel and Chipping Warden Green Tunnel.
✅ Three major viaducts – Lower Thorpe, Edgcote, and High Furlong Brook.
✅ Extensive earthworks linking the structures to create a smooth, efficient, and reliable high-speed journey.
