Kumbakonam and Thanjavur Trip Vlog Feb 2026 Part 2
Hi Everyone,
I took SETC Bus / TNSTC bus as on Feb 23rd 2026 Monday from shanthinagar bus stop and reached by 7.30 pm. By 8 pm took Mayiladuthurai non ac sleeper bus as there is no direct bus to kumbakonam from Bangalore. 520 Rs per head. Bus reached via tiruvanamalai and Chidambaram. It took 10 hours time and we reached morning 6.30 am. From there we took one more bus to kumbakonam which is one hour travel which costed 60 Rs for 2 ppl.
For booking rooms and stay, we booked ARK residency lodge nearby bus stop which was neat and clean and I paid 1500 Rs per day for Non AC. It has Sofa and big restroom. But TV screen was having some issue but we were able to watch programs to relax. ( direct booking )

Kumbakonam and Thanjavur, its good to visit from November till Jan. As weather is hot from 11 am till 4 pm. We travelled to thanjavur from kumbakonam in private bus with lot of hit tamil songs played, its pleasure to enjoy. Pls carry umbrella, napkin, handfan with you visiting such awesome places. In thanjavur we should get down in old bus stand to go to brihadeshwara temple, Its walkable distance from bus stop. Many foreigners and tourist across many cities come here. Nearby there is state library as well. I purchased kamarkat, sukku coffee podi and mapplai samba rice in one of super market on morning walk ay 7.30 am in one of the shop in Kumbakonam. While coming to Bangalore there is no direct bus from thanjavur hence went to tiruchi bus new bus stand and got SETC non ac sleeper bus at 8.30 pm. It left by 8.50 pm. It costed 950 Rs for 2 ppl and reached bangalore by 5 am in shanthinagar bus stop.
For going to main and important temples, we checked with ARK lodge, they were tied up with Esha travels and Mr Ibrahim contacted us F2F and guided on trip plan. For car drivers and we paid for 1 day sight seeing to 11 temples from 9.30 am till 9.20 pm whole day. I paid 3200 Rs and parking charges in few temple was extra and driver tips and lunch overall I paid 250 Rs. He also took to good hotels to eat breakfast, lunch and dinner as well

Next day we had lunch in Thanjavur in Sri Krishna bhavan, meals was ultimate and yummy with lot of varieties like urunda kolambu, moru kolambu, uddin vada, pal kootu with coconut milk etc. Venue address - Sri Krishna Bhavan KRA Complex , Attar Mohalla, Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu 613001 near brihadeshwara temple. Recommended ppl to pls taste here, opposite there is thanjavur toys and thalayati bommai too . Rs 230 meals for 2 members.
