Kyiv says it has captured more than 80 settlements within an area exceeding 1,150 square kilometers since launching its surprise offensive on August 6, the largest Russian incursion since World War II.
The Pokrovsk front is the area witnessing the fiercest fighting in eastern Ukraine, with reports of a record number of clashes last week. The Russian military stated that 63 clashes occurred on Monday around Pokrovsk, a logistics hub. According to Reuters, the attacking Russian forces are making significant progress against the besieged Ukrainian troops. The military added in a statement that Russian forces attacked Ukrainian troops 21 times throughout the day in the Toretsk region, with some attacks continuing into the night.
