Cold Steel Spartan Review
The Spartan by Cold Steel is a BEAST of a knife. It's big, it's somewhat heavy, it's hair-shaving sharp right out of the box, and it's full of attitude. Is it worth carrying in your pocket every day? Yes! ... and no. Yes, because it's strongly made, comfortable, very capable, easily deployed (via the "wave" method), its AUS-8 steel takes a wicked edge very easily, and the blade is long enough to be capable as a defensive weapon AND a utility blade without being so long that it enters the realm of ridiculousness. BUT ... perhaps no, as it does take up a lot of real estate inside your pocket with its grip frame thickness and overall width, it might be too cumbersome for fine cutting tasks, and obviously its 4.5" blade length might exceed the maximum allowed by the law in some states/cities.
Long story short, it's a LOT of blade for a reasonable price, it's got loads and loads of attitude, and like just about all Cold Steel knives, it's built like a freakin' Sherman tank. King Leonidas would be proud to clip this to his ... uhhh ... loin cloth.
