A common problem exists among Orthodox Christian believers. Some believe that repentance can cure everything. They are mistaken. Repenting out of a false sense of guilt is neither constructive nor effective, as such guilt stems not from a real act, but from a neurotic complex. The sense of sinfulness that arises from irrational guilt is a phantom. The soul is not freed from a non-existent burden, because it doesn't exist. You can "repent" for years and decades of non-existent guilt, but it will never bring relief.
