Squid Game Secrets that most people would not have noticed!
Ok, so unless you have been living under a rock or been to outer space lately with Elon Musk, you would have heard of the viral ground breaking series Squid Game. This Korean series is so popular that it is now on its way to becoming Netflix’s most popular series ever made!
There are many reasons for the popularity of the movie. But one of the biggest reason is the twist ending which most people would not have expected. But if you had paid close attention to the series, you would have realized that clues have been dropped throughout the series that points to the twist ending.
So I am going to share with you 5 secrets or 5 clues in the Squid Game that most people would have missed out and which reveal the shocking twist at the end. And by the way there will be major spoilers in this video so if you haven’t watched Squid Game yet, pls go and watch it. Oh and stay till the end cause I will be sharing the most controversial secret that could potentially be revealed in Season 2 of the Squid Game.
Secret number 1. I have watched enough Korean thrillers to know that there will definitely be a big twist ending. So right from the first episode I was trying to guess what could be the twist ending. And while watching the series, I kept thinking about the movie Saw. In the movie, the creator of the game was in the same room with them all along, pretending to be a dead corpse, but was actually observing them all along.
Somehow I kept thinking of the Saw twist ending and felt the same way about the Squid Game. The most likely twist ending would be if one of the participants was in fact the creator of the game. I kept trying to think which of the characters would be the most unlikely. When I saw the frail old man Il Nam’s game number was number 1, that was my first clue. And on top of that, the last man’s and also the winner’s number was 456, which was the complete opposite and at the other end of the spectrum. By the way, is it a mere coincidence that the prize money is 4.56 billion won and Gi Hung’s number is 456?
Secret number 2. One of the most talked about game in the Squid Game is definitely the very first one. Red Light. Green Light. It is so popular that the creepy doll in the game has been used in many viral campaigns to stop people from crossing the road illegally. In the game, the giant doll uses gesture recognition technology to detect any movement at all amongst the participants. And when movement is detected, it is met with a deadly gun shot.
If you observe closely, all participants have a tinge of green highlighting their entire body when the doll is facing the participants. All except for the old man Il Nam. In fact, he and the person near to him did not have the full tinge of green, suggesting that the program will not detect him and he would not be killed in the first game of the Series.
Secret Number 3. In the Marble Games, Gi Hun was about to lose the game and facing imminent death. But he decided to cheat and because of Il Nam’s supposed dementia, he was able to do so with success. This is a truly painful scene to watch as Gi Hun was deeply conflicted as Il Nam was possibly the closest person to him in the game. However, when Il Nam was down to his last marble, he had a moment of clarity when he tells Gi Hun outright whether it was the right thing to do to cheat him of all his marbles. He then graciously decides to give Gi Hun the last marble. While watching that particular scene, most viewers would brush off this moment of clarity as something that dementia patients have. But it’s clear now that Il Nam was in fact clear headed and made a conscious decision to let Gi Hun win the marbles game. Perhaps it’s his way of avoiding the next game which is the Glass Bridge because one wrong move and Il Nam could plunge to his death.
Secret Number 4. In the same marble scene, where Il Nam was about to die, notice that the shot was never on Il Nam but instead on the reaction of Gi Hun. This was the moment for me that confirmed my suspicion. All the other characters’ death was on them and we can clearly see their death. But not for Il Nam’s death. Furthermore in the wide shot that followed, if you examine the scene clearly, Il Nam’s body is no where to be found in the shot.
Secret number 5 and perhaps the most controversial. Gi Hun is related to Il Nam and could possibly be his son. In the scene where both are queing up to take their food, Gi Hun mentions that he is lactose intolerant and that he can only drink chocolate milk. Il Nam then replies that Gi Hun must be a really naughty child and been beaten a lot cause Il Nam also has a kid like that.
But perhaps the biggest clue of all is in the marbles scene. Il Nam keeps remarking that the place looks exactly like the place he lived in when he was younger and Gi Hun also says it also looks exactly like the place that he grew up in.
