1CCBBH - 149-B. R-Type Leo (1 Credit Clear, Japanese version)
Obviously I did a 1CC of R-Type Leo back in 2021, but that was the English version. Calice Cup 9 gave me a good excuse to try for a 1CC on the Japanese version, so I might as well add it here for posterity!
What's the difference between the English and Japanese versions? The Japanese version only has one button instead of two, you're forced to hold the fire button to launch the homing pods. But the biggest change is that the game sends you back to a checkpoint on death, in traditional R-Type style! The English version lets you resume from where you died immediately, which means you can sorta brute force some sections if you have enough lives (although there's only two extends...).
Sadly this wasn't a no-death run, I did die twice at the end of stage 4 like a moron. Each life at the end of the game is worth 1 million points so they're pretty costly mistakes!
This run was done during one of the scoring session streams of Calice Cup 9, not officially marked as a 1CCBBH stream but since I did it live I'm counting it here because why not.
