Hi Guys!
So disclaimer*** I DO NOT SING PROFESSIONALLY, IT IS NOT HOW I MAKE A LIVING.*** I have had extensive vocal training throughout my life, mostly in classical performance and opera and have earned money at various points throughout my life for singing and performing. However, it is not my chosen profession. I am a therapist and, currently, a work from home mom. Although I chose not to pursue singing as a career it continues to be an integral part of my everyday life and one of my most powerful methods of coping. As you can see in the video, I used singing as a very powerful tool during labor to get me through the more difficult contractions. Who knew you could SING THROUGH CONTRACTIONS for pain management?! I certainly didn't know that with my first two births, but discovered it during this one. I found that if you can breathe, you can sing. I actually found singing to be more reliable and helpful than focused breathing because it is something i enjoy and it served as a welcomed distraction! I hope you find this inspirational and helpful, I enjoyed this birth immensely and I know that this strategy was such a big part of that!
