Imagine a man…
Walking alone for 51 days in the middle of a frozen continent, at -40°C.
Both of his GPS devices fail, he gets lost for 2.5 days on the 87th parallel, and despite a broken ski binding, he walks 150 kilometers with an injured foot…
Ali Rıza Bilal made history as the first Turkish person to reach the South Pole on foot.
This 933-kilometer superhuman journey was not just a physical challenge, but a battle fought with loneliness, fear, faith, and perseverance.
Starting sports at a young age,
Becoming a national team captain,
Completing Ironman races,
Yet still spending years chasing his Antarctica dream — emailing 1,500 companies and finding only 12 sponsors…
He cried when his ski binding broke.
His foot bled.
He couldn’t see his way for days in the fog.
But he never gave up.
And on the 51st day…
He reached the South Pole.
He raised the Turkish flag.
He sang the Turkish National Anthem.
"I didn’t walk 950 kilometers to bring this flag here.
This flag has been in my heart for 52 years…"
