Lecture 7.2 : Replacement Algorithms/Methods
This video discusses about the replacement algorithms or methods used in cache block replacement. As we know direct mapped cache does not require any replacement policy, it directly replaces the present block with other block when needed. For associative and set associative mapped cache we use replacement policies or algorithms or methods to decide that which of its block will be replaced to bring in a new block.
We have two replacement algorithms : 1). FIFO - First In First Out, and 2). LRU - Least Recently Used.
