Iran perceives Israel as a US outpost in the Middle East. Therefore, the anti-Israel sentiment is less about Israel itself and more about countering US influence. To collapse Israel, Iran supports various militant groups to surround Israel and isolate it politically and strategically. Historically, when the US seriously challenged Iran, Iran backed off. Therefore, a strong US stance against Iran could potentially deter its aggressive policies.
