SF Immigration Reform March -
4/10 was a day of action for comprehensive immigration reform in the United States. The largest action was in Washington DC, but many other cities joined in, including San Francisco.
"The path to citizenship should not be a 10 or 15 year path!" exclaimed one of the organizers of the event while people gathered before the march at One Post Plaza. Signs and banners reading "Reunite Families!" and "We will no longer remain in the shadows!" filled the intersection and the march began, making it's way up Market st.
"We! Are People! We are not illegal!"
There were many loud chants up and down the large group, and hundreds of bystanders stopped to film, photograph, or just take in the message.
"If we don't get no JUSTICE - YOU DON'T GET NO PEACE!"
The march landed in front of the Federal building and courthouse at 450 Golden Gate. An hour long rally took place and many spoke, including San Francisco Board of Supervisor's John Avalos:
"The borders that we have are porous for capital and money to go around, but they stop for people...that's not right!"
