The handmade Polar Bear Mask is used as an interactive art piece for dance performance: "I passed it around. There were people all lined up sitting in chairs around the room. I said "okay now it’s a mask, a power mask. We’re invoking the blessing of the polar bear. So people read what was inside of it, and then they growled, roared or whistled like a bird and it echoed, and then passed it all the way around."
Polar Bear Blessing:
Secret place of elders in gratitude we sing your praise sacred polar bear white as the driven snow hold our hearts until the end of days.
The polar bear blessing is about community, survival and play. There are sub zero places that we humans would find impossible to survive.
The handmade orange flowers used in with the black umbrella represent dancing with grief.
