You'll experience issues with sound clips and animations when using the Character Select mod. I recommend keeping it disabled whenever you're using this mod.
Tails will always load into either of the Eggman boss fights in his mech as to avoid crashing the game.
There is an option in the mod loader to always play as Tails outside of his mech - the only exceptions being the Eggman fights, of course.
