Returning to Mississippi
Rev. Edwin King, born and raised in Mississippi, was arrested for trespassing for the simple act of bringing a black minister to a white-only hotel restaurant in Alabama. He was sentenced to a chain gang. He eventually returned to his home state, and became more heavily involved in civil rights activities there. King recalls the death of Medgar Evers, Freedom Summer, and attempts by segregationists to harm him and civil rights leader Aaron Henry.
