Tower Hamlets cemetery in Bow is in terrible condition as it is completely covered by ivy and it is largely forgotten now. It holds the hundreds of dead victims of the Blitz bombing.
In 1968, Enoch Powell was sacked from the Conservative party by Edward Heath because of his Rivers of Blood Speech in which he said:
"Like the Roman, I seem to see the Tiber foaming with much blood"
This was all due to the Windrush and this was the time when the Labour Party finally betrayed the British working class for cheap migrants from the Carribean and Asia and they have done this ever since; the London docklanders went marching down to Westminster demanding that Enoch Powell be Prime Minister.
This anti-immigration completely falsifies the Marxist concept of "class consciousness" or "International working solidarity" because all it means is mass cheap immigration into the country to undercut domestic wages and increase taxation. What comes first is for your own: Your family, your friends and community, your local area, your country! Not class!
This was the start of British Nationalism- putting Britons first- after the East end went through a period of British Socialism, then British Fascism and now British Nationalism with its first strongest Nationalist party- the National Front (NF) which was formed in 1967 by former Conservative and former BUF member Arthur Chesterton, the cousin of G K Chesterton- the NF was made up of Labour and Conservative members, middle class and working class, all homogenously British.
Although Enoch Powell was a libertarian and a keen admirer of Margaret Thatcher, he never joined the National Front but joined the Ulster Unionist Party instead as the liberal conservative newspaper the Daily Telegraph noted in the general elections during the 1970s, "DO NOT VOTE NATIONAL FRONT" not because of forced repatriation or declaration of war on Rhodesia but because they are "SOCIALISTS!" Many members were working class but the only socialistic aspects of the NF was to keep the service sector nationalised and the banking system transformed into a Social Credit union- but this never came to be as the "Conservatives" (who were more strictly Libertarian) privatised everything and brought ruin to the British economy.
The National Front was one of the strongest Nationalist parties in the 1970s with its demonstrations and its votes and membership increased a lot in the parliamentary elections and Excalibur House was a valuable asset to a Nationalist party but is now a foreign language building for foreigners. The NF failed drastically in 1979 thanks to Maggie twattie.
Albert Mariner was a highly admired organiser for the NF in East London and a great associate of Eddy Butler in the 1980s when Eddy joined the NF but transformed to Tyndall's split-off the British National Party (BNP).
In 1983, there was a council by-election in Tottenham and the night before fifty NF members went to a meeting having marched through a black neighbourhood where a few black Communists threw stones and bricks, the police pushed them away but one of the bricks hit Albert Mariner on the head- this led him to hospital having missed the meeting.
On the weekend, the NF would normally have a Skrewdriver gig but Eddy Butler went to knock on Albert's door but there was no reply. Albert was found dead.
The song by Skrewdriver is called 'Sick society'. I do not endorse their NS views but their song points out the way Britain is today and the song was dedicated to the death of Albert Mariner.
