Earthquakes are still occurring near the epicenter of the Great East Japan Earthquake. Looking back at the earthquakes occurring near Fukushima, most of the large tremors of magnitude 5 or higher occur at night. None occur during the day. Since they occur after sunset, be sure to prepare for nighttime tremors, such as by bringing lighting equipment. Also, keep in mind that earthquakes of magnitude 5 or higher can occur anywhere in Japan. Earthquake and tsunami disaster preparedness is essential.
