Roblox VR DJ Concept Demo (Because Why Not) - Synthwave Mix
This is not uploaded to Roblox and can't be played.
I've had the idea to make a DJ set in VR on Roblox for a few months now, and it hasn't been done before on Roblox that I know of. The demo has a lot of missing functionality, and the tracks used are legally problematic (only 1 is allowed on Roblox as far as I know, and I doubt I would get permission to do it without paying tens of thousands of dollars). Maybe one club game with a big player base and non-problematic tracks can be the first to have DJ nights like this? May require some setting tweaks for VR users, like forcing arms to stay connected, but it could be a big way to get more players to keep playing with longer play sessions.
The video is mostly for show because the mix is pre-created with local files. Even the "screens" that I occasionally look at in the video don't have anything. Playing them and adjusting volume is done in Roblox, but the mixing is not done in real-time as I don't have nearly enough practice as being a DJ or mixer to pull that off. Some of the transitions are fine, while others I think would need more work. However, the concept work, so anyone is free to take on the challenge, although I don't plan to release this. I may refine the concept a bit and do more mixes - I don't know. It took about an hour to create the mix that I am not too happy with, an hour to get the recording setup, and 3 hours to trim the video and hide the "Player" tag I forgot to disable. And again, these tracks are legally problematic for me. Content ID is the only reason this demo video can exist.
