Checking Out Vanilla OS - An Immutable OS | Not a Linux Guru Guy
In this episode, I check out the immutable and static Operating System, named Vanilla OS! It is the first static OS that I'm aware of, which has an immutable filesystem, being that openSUSE's MicroOS is based on a rolling release, Tumbleweed, and Silverblue is based on Fedora, a rolling release. Vanilla OS is based on Ubuntu, a static release, being that Ubuntu is based on Debian. It takes a unique method on installing DistroBox distro's as well as providing a method to use it more traditional rout, but all using a wrapper which they call Vanilla's package manager, Apx. They also have a program similar to MicroOS's "transactional-updates", except that there are only two root sessions, an A and a B, at any one time, though I would suspect that at any one point you would have at least 3 sessions, but I would have no idea. It is called "ABRoot"!
