Who are the Nuevomexicanos?
Who are the Nuevomexicanos? This groups of Hispanics has lived in New Mexico for many hundreds of years under the Spanish and later Mexican and ultimately American rule. Although there has been a large degree of assimilation and integration with the neighboring Anglo majority, the Nuevomexicanos continue to maintain aspects of their unique Spanish-derived culture with significant influence from the neighboring Puebloan, Apache, Comanche, Navajo and Hopi tribes.
