The epic novel "The Strogoffs" by renowned Siberian writer Georgy Mokeevich Markov can truly be called a historical novel. In his work, the author, through the fate of the Strogoff peasant family, vividly and imaginatively paints a picture of life in the Siberian region during major historical events—the Russo-Japanese War, the 1905 Revolution, the October Revolution of 1917, and the Civil War. The novel's protagonist, Matvey Strogoff, goes through "fire, water, and copper pipes," from a peaceful peasant beekeeper to the commander of a Red partisan detachment, proving to himself and others that a person must always remain human and overcome any life's challenges with honor.
