About Video:
Many a time most of us get this doubt like whether to say went or has/gone.
We use the present perfect tense when the time of action is not important or not specified and it shows the effect of the past action on the present. And
We use the simple past when details about the time or place of an action occurred are given or specified.
Present Perfect:
1. I have seen the Taj Mahal.
2. I have finished my work.
3. I have cut my finger.
Simple Past:
4. I saw the Taj Mahal two years ago.
5. I finished my work in the morning.
6. I cut my finger when I was sharpening the pencil.
On a timeline We Remember that
we Use the simple past when the action started in the past, finished in the past, and is not continuing now.
We Use the present perfect when the action started in the past and is continuing now.
This tense is used to show a link between the present and past and is commonly used in everyday English.
It is important to remember that
the present perfect is related to the present in some way. It is used to talk about life experiences, recent events or states or things that started in the past and hasn't changed.
1. I have been to America.
2. I have just finished my lunch.
3. I have lived in India for 3 years.
