Surprise!! It is MCAS (Mast Cell Activation Syndrome/Disorder) Awareness Day! People affected by MCAS have mast cells that overreact to allergens and release too many mediator chemicals, like histamine, causing allergic reactions. Triggers can change and can be hard to identify. Symptoms of MCAS include itching, swelling, rashes, and anaphylaxis. MCAS can be triggered by infection, stress, food, and exercise, making it difficult to manage diet and daily routine.
