[What is OM?]
The Om (also spelled Aum) symbol is a sacred sound and spiritual icon in ancient Indian spirituality.
It is considered to be one of the oldest spiritual symbols in the world and has great historic relevance in Indian culture.
The Om symbol is composed of three letters - A, U, and M - which represent the three states of consciousness:
1/ waking
2/ dreaming
3/ deep sleep.
Also a 4th sound, A SILENCE, that represents the state of pure consciousness beyond these three states.
The Om symbol is often chanted during meditation and yoga practices and is believed to be a powerful tool for spiritual growth and enlightenment.
It is considered to be the “SOUND OF THE UNIVERSE” and is said to connect the individual soul with the divine.
In addition to its spiritual significance, the Om symbol has also been used as a decorative motif in Indian art and architecture for thousands of years.
It can be found in temples, on household objects, and even on clothing.
