Flying Scotsman locomotive 30 April 2023
Some rather poor footage of steam loco 'Flying Scotsman' passing my house ( in background) at 65mph on 30 April 2023. Heading a 324 mile round trip on the GWR mainline between Bristol and Par in Cornwall, where the locomotive will use the newly restored turntable before heading back to Bristol. Fully booked at a mere £185 for impoverished steerage class passengers, or £375 for the full monty with english breakfast and a 4 course silver service dinner (go on, you know you want to). 'Flying Scotsman' was the first locomotive to hit the magic 100 mph in 1933, on the non-stop London to Edinburgh service, and is now exactly 100 years old
