For sale this beautiful brass paraffin picnic stove from the 1950s was licence built in Britain, to the original Swedish patent. The Primus stove company still exists, and has used a variety of names for its products over the years, but the original model worked so well that the design has barely changed since 1892, and to this day every single one is tested before it leaves the factory. Since it was invented these efficient and clean burning little stoves have been standard issue to various nations' Armed Forces, were used by famous expeditions to the North Pole and Antarctica, and accompanied Sir Edmund Hillary and sherpa Tenzing Norgay on the first ever ascent of Mount Everest in 1953. I have restored this one to a highly polished finish and fitted new seals. The craftsmanship is superb right down to the detailed soldering together of its parts. I've just tested it and it works like new. It runs for about half an hour on a single filling, more than enough time for the mother of all fry ups and a pot of tea. Take it on your travels and you'll never have to buy a modern butane cartridge ever again. But even if conquering the harshest places on the planet isn't on your personal bucket list, it would take pride of place in the home and become a lasting conversation piece in anyone's display of historic curiosities. Comes in its original tin with full instructions, plus accessories including its spanner, jet cleaning prickers, windshield, and a cute little tin for the methylated spirits used when lighting up.
