In this video, I’m sharing a workaround for creating a document with numbered paragraphs, that you can then create cross-reference links to using fields in Microsoft Word.
Fields are a great way to create ‘live’ links in your document, so that if you move the content around, the link still takes you to the right place, and references the correct number/title/text that you need.
This workaround came about after I received several requests from people about how to create easy updateable links in documents that could be hundreds of pages long. It’s a great option where you might have several people working on the document, and in the editing process the content gets moved around a lot – it will definitely save you the embarrassment of missing a reference when you do your manual updating!
