Nissan XTerra Engine Repair & Maintenance - Used Cars
Engine repair and maintenance of the Nissan XTerra was a big learning experience. This video is about working on the front end of the engine. I include a couple of possible kits used. I go over some of the timing chains, tensioners/guides, and water pump. In this case, the radiator, hoses, oil galley gaskets, thermostat, thermo housing, oil pump cover cover/gasket, and possibly more are replaced.
Engine symptoms: whining, ticking, timing felt off, water pump failed, over-heating.
Notes: 1) This is best done with 2 people. 2) Preplan for replacing the timing cover.
The Callaway brothers, at Callaway Customs, did a fantastic job of restoring the SUV's engine. After having 200,000+ mile put on it, Alex just might get another 100,000 miles on the car. I am very thankful to the Callaway team for allowing me to record their work.
