An-225 Mriya. The biggest plane in the world.
Translated from the Ukrainian language Mriya means "dream". An-225 is the largest aircraft in the world with the highest load capacity. This is a jet-powered aircraft.
Heavy transport aircraft An-225 "Mriya" was developed in OKB im. O. K. Antonov under the leadership of General designer p. V. Balabuev. This aircraft is designed to carry oversized cargo with a total weight of 250 tons inside the fuselage and on the external suspension to anywhere in the world. An-225 can be used as a launch complex for the military space forces or launch vehicles of the new generation, or as a component of the marine search and rescue complex, which also includes the “Orlenok” type ekranoplan (located on the fuselage of the an-225 aircraft and dropped in the air on arrival in the disaster area).
The an-225 is equipped with a navigation radar, an analog four-channel fly-by-wire control system, a four-channel inertial navigation system, and units of the Laurent and omega radio navigation systems. The cargo hold is sealed. Above it is the passenger cabin that can accommodate 60-70 people. There is a bow cargo ramp, means of mechanization of loading and unloading operations. Over the fuselage are equipped with fastening units of large cargo, including the spacecraft "Burana “and the elements of the carrier rocket”Energy".
The design is close to the aircraft An-124 “Ruslan”. The first flight took place on December 21, 1988. On may 13, 1989 An-225 transported a reusable spacecraft Buran from Zhukovsky to the Baikonur cosmodrome. The aircraft is equipped with six turbojet engines D-18T, with a thrust of 23400 kgf each.

Initially, it was planned to build two such aircraft. The second twin brother is made only 70% and with sufficient funding its construction can be completed. In order to complete the construction will require approximately $ 120 million. It is known that the construction work of the second such giant is underway, but the exact timing of its launch into the air is unknown. In August 2016, an agreement was signed between the companies of Ukraine and China on the possibility of completing the second An-225 aircraft and subsequently transferring this aircraft to China. But already in December 2017, it was reported that the Chinese authorities abandoned their intentions to complete the aircraft, because many airports in the world do not have the ability to take such large aircraft.
