Hollywood actor Bruce Willis has been diagnosed with one of the most serious forms of dementia, frontotemporal dementia.
Actress Demi Moore shared the disappointing diagnosis of her ex-husband and friend. On her Instagram page, she wrote that aphasia, which the "Die Hard" star developed last year, is just one of the symptoms of the disease:
"Since we announced Bruce's aphasia diagnosis in the spring of 2022, his condition has progressed and we now have a more specific diagnosis: frontotemporal dementia (known as FTD). Unfortunately, communication problems are just one symptom of the disease Bruce faces. Although painful, it's a relief to finally have a clear diagnosis," Moore said in her post.
On February 16, an official statement from Bruce Willis' family was published on the website of the Frontotemporal Dementia Association. In particular, it says that there is currently no cure for the disease, but the star's family hopes that "this reality may change in the coming years.
It should be noted that on average, people can live five to seven years after the onset of dementia symptoms.
In March 2022, Bruce Willis' daughters released an official statement announcing that the Hollywood star had been diagnosed with aphasia, a language disorder that occurs after brain damage. It affects language and cognitive abilities. Willis was forced to retire from acting because of the condition.
