Getting to know the piano
My moment between all the hustle and bustle of setting up for my concerts, where I get to touch the piano keys at each location for the first time. In this case, a 150 year old Bechstein that was shipped over here to Great Britain from a bombed house in Berlin a long time ago, restored and now stands for me in the @lowfourstudio in Manchester. It’s hard to believe what stories some instruments might have to tell? Who has played on them? How many evenings were spent laughing or crying on it? Sometimes I would like to be able to play even quieter, to not drown out all these precious memories of a piano like that.
