Why is My 2020 RAM ProMaster 2500 Losing All Power?! It’s Dying!
The alternator in my 2020 RAM ProMaster 2500 seized, which is why it lost all power, including power steering.
The battery light came on when I left for Portland, Oregon from the San Francisco Bay Area in California. I managed to make it to OR and return to California. As soon as I way about to make it home, all the lights in the cluster gauge began popping up. I chose to drive to my brother’s house instead. Luckily for me, I managed to make it before the car shut down on me. The engine was overheating at this point and it’s not recommended to drive it in this state. I only did it because I was less than half a mile away and even then my engine overheated.
Anyway, my two brothers helped me changed the alternator and the belt when had come off and was damaged. The alternator clutch had seized and ripped apart from the alternator. Upon replacing it and the belt, my van worked perfectly again.
