Demo iRobot Roomba Vacuum - Older 400 Series Non-Pet Model
I received this older iRobot Roomba Vacuum a few years ago as a gift, and I was using it for a while. This is an earlier model of the vacuums that iRobot created. They randomly bounce around the room to vacuum it. I thought it was so neat to be able to set it and forget it, setting up a weekly schedule, saving time from needing to vacuum the house myself. I only needed to clean the brushes once in a while.
With more research though, I found a different robot vacuum, one that was smarter called "Neato". It was capable of vacuuming back and forth in straight lines, but having bought the iRobot 580 Series iRobot vacuum myself (March 2009) and spending nearly $760 on it, I didn't have money to spend on another one at the time.
The older iRobot vacuum models work with virtual wall devices that require batteries, which are a pain to keep going, and mine came with 3, so if you have more than 3 rooms on the floor, then tough luck (or you have to buy more which are not cheap). Plus, if you want to carry it to vacuum another floor, you'd have to move all the virtual walls too. With the newer s9+ series iRobot Vacuums, they are able to map the room with WIFI automatically, and can move to any room without the need of virtual walls (with a little setup through the app), so setup is easy. It's also very easy to maintain. All you need is a smart phone, and the iRobot app.
I'm not sure if they are still manufacturing these older iRobot vacuums and selling them or not, but if they are, I advise you to NOT buy one. It's better for you to save up for a s9+ series robot or newer.
