Simone Weil on Love's Double Movement
The religious thought of twentieth-century philosopher and mystic Simone Weil revolves around three fundamental themes: attention, decreation, and affliction. I explored the first in an earlier Holy Spirit Moment (link below) and will cover the third in a later one. Here, I examine Weil's claim that God's self-renunciatory creation of the universe is the prototype for love: a double movement from decreation to creation.
