I'm discussing a unique treatment option available to patients that may have been told that they have a massive, irreparable rotator cuff tear. A superior capsular reconstruction, or an SCR, is an arthroscopic procedure performed on a shoulder whose rotator cuff tear cannot be fixed by traditional repair techniques. I'll review the anatomy and function of the rotator cuff and how that anatomy led to the development of the SCR procedure (5:25). I'll also compare the differences in performing a traditional rotator cuff repair versus an SCR (10:22).
