A brief description of the Glycemic Index, and why it matters in regulating your hormones and your health. The Glycemic index measures how quickly carbs become glucose in the blood stream, or how quickly foods raise your blood sugar level. The standard index goes from 0-100, 100 being pure glucose.
This matters because the higher and more constant your blood sugar levels are raised, the higher and more constant you have raised levels of insulin, which can lead to all kinds of health issues plaguing those on the western diet today. Even if you're not obese, you're subject to the same diseases and can build insulin resistance. Learn about this and more in today's video.
