It doesn't get more Christmassy than this! The anticipation of the upcoming holidays is palpable in this concert full of Christmas sounds, sleigh rides, and Christmas wishes. The centerpiece is the music from Erich Wolfgang Korngold's fairy-tale ballet "The Snowman": Colombine and her suitor Pierrot try to escape from the clutches of Uncle Pantalon – and succeed with the help of a snowman. The fairytale story is narrated by Axel Prahl. The atmosphere becomes particularly festive with Otto Nicolai's Christmas Overture, in which the chorale "From Heaven Above" resounds in ever-new variations.
