Balrampur: Leopard attacked a woman after entering her house
Balrampur. In village Jharihadih of village panchayat Chaudhari Dih under Bankatwa range of Sohelwa wildlife division, a leopard entered the tin verandah of a house on Monday night at around 11 o'clock and while the woman was sleeping, the leopard took her arm in its mouth. During this, the woman screamed. On hearing the scream, the woman's son Lavkush, who was lying next to her, woke up and called for help. Hearing the scream, other family members and villagers also woke up and chased the leopard with sticks and torch light. After going some distance, it entered the bushes of the nearby mountain stream Gauriya. Villagers Baburam, Sheshmani, Mohan, Raksharam, Jagaram, Mewalal, Malhuram, Dataram etc. told that due to the forest being close, the leopard roams around the village every day and is devouring stray cattle and goats. Forest guards Raju Yadav and Raj Pratap Gupta of the forest department team, who reached the spot after getting the information, got the injured woman treated at the Community Health Center, Shivpura. On the other hand, panic has spread among the villagers about the leopard after it entered the house and attacked the woman. The villagers have demanded the forest department officials to catch the leopard.
In this regard, Deputy Divisional Forest Officer MB Singh says that information has been received about the woman being attacked by a wild animal. A team is being sent to the spot and investigation is being done.
