Over the last four decades, the workers of Iraq have endured a brutal dictatorship, a war with Iran, a decade of sanctions, two wars with the USA, “shock and awe”, a full-scale invasion, and an upsurge of communal bloodshed. Hundreds of thousands have died. Yet the banner of the working class is still flying!

The GFWUI was founded in April 2003 with the aim of uniting workers’ associations into a united independent workers’ organisation encompassing all sectors of the work force across Iraq.
