Week 12: The New Heaven and New Earth (Rev. 21-22)
Join Pastor Trent Casto as he concludes his 12-part Revelation lecture series by digging into the hopeful vision presented in Revelation 21-22 of the new heaven and new earth. In this talk, Pastor Trent walks through three main views Christians hold about the new creation: will it be an escape from the physical world, a total annihilation and re-creation of the universe, or a restoration and renewal of the current fallen creation? After examining the biblical evidence, Pastor Trent explains why he believes Scripture supports the restorationist perspective.
Exploring the nature of biblical redemption and tracing the temple imagery from Genesis through Revelation, Pastor Trent makes the case that God intends to redeem the same humanity, the same world, and the same heaven and earth that were corrupted at the fall. He then paints a picture of the glorious future hope found in these chapters: a whole people perfectly united with God and each other, a whole place restored to Edenic paradise, and the whole presence of God experienced face-to-face.
This talk is full of hope grounded in the sure promises of God with practical implications for life today. Join us for the conclusion to the Revelation series!
