How to adjust the height of a Fluidmaster 400 series fill valve without removing the fill valve from the tank.
When adjusting the height of a toilet fill valve, the uniform plumbing code must be considered. The top of the flush valve overflow tube must be 1 inch below the bottom of the toilet tank flush lever hole. The critical fill level of the toilet fill valve must be 1 inch above the overflow tube.
The standard recommendation for the tank water level is 1/2 inch below the overflow tube. The toilet in this video is a full flush toilet. The water level is adjusted to 2 inches below the top of the overflow tube. This water level uses two gallons of water per flush less than the standard tank water height setting. The toilet achieves a good flush at this water level.
