Treasure in Earthen Vessels
2 Corinthians 4:5-12
In this special All Saints' worship service, we will light candles for those we love who have died in the last year. We remember that despite their imperfections, they still blessed us deeply. Our scripture reminds us not to let your imperfections stop you from living, risking, and giving your service. I hear people all the time saying they are too old, or too young, or too inexperienced, or too new, or too burned out for this and that. But Paul seems to be saying, I don't care if your pot is cracked. I don't care what you have done, you can still offer some service to God and what makes it valuable is not your perfection, but that God makes anything we offer in God's name good.
On this All Saints' Sunday we welcome back Sam Yoon who will play violin throughout the service. He’ll be playing composers Massenet and Mendelssohn during the prelude and offertory with Jason McNally accompanying at the piano. Their prelude will begin at 9:25 am, so come early to hear their glorious and inspiring music. Our Chancel Choir will be singing Fauré’s Cantique de Jean Racine as our memorial anthem during the candlelighting, and our alto soloist Jessica Hayes will be featured along with Shannon Miller and Jake Asaro on Glory Bound, a folk-roots song made famous by The Wailin’ Jennys. Such heartfelt and varied music in Sunday’s service, all meant to bring comfort and peace on this All Saint’s Sunday. Join us to experience this meaningful service.
