Pat Martino Actvity 2 Lines Analysed
In this video we look at Pat Martino's Line in Activity 2 of the guitar.
I call the second position SG 24 (String Group 24) as the root notes lie on the 2nd and 4th string of the guitar in position 2.
Pat Martino's lines are super effective and one can do so much with them. They are the ultimate tool for improvising over jazz changes and standards.
The Pat Martino lines also work very well on bass, trumpet, saxophone, piano and any instrument on the planet. There is no need to limit the lines to guitar playing!
The concept of Activity works best on the guitar as the guitar is organised into various positions and we have 5 positions in total on the guitar.

The gist of how it works:
"You play a LINEAR EXPRESSION (or a line) using a modified Dorian or Melodic Minor with chromaticism. This becomes your weapon for performing over chord changes."
The lines are based on the minor scales but can be adjusted to fit over any and all chord changes!
