In this example , feedforward is used to improve cascade control of level of steam drum. The main cascade loop is controlling the level of the drum (master loop) by controlling the flow to feedwater (as secondary control). In this structure steam flow is designed with a fluctuation to show variation on demand and it is shown that the feedforward control can compensate this variation.
