One of the main elements that determine the evolution of coastal plains is sea level variation. This variation can be determined by spatial and temporal indicators, and this presentation will provide an important historical overview, retrieving different indicators to construct sea level fluctuation curves at various points along the Brazilian coast. The effects of sea level fluctuations on what may represent a new geological epoch—the Anthropocene—will also be discussed.
