It's been a loooooooong time, so let me reintroduce myself.
I started by making original compositions in Mario Paint Composer. Since then I've been uploading stuff made in FL Studio, occasionally submitting to Equestria Daily. An Undertale remix of Small Shock became surprisingly well-liked. Since then it's only been Vestibule of Illumination, Ketchup, and Squid Sanctuary. Here we are.

My influences are typically Nintendo video games, cinematic/world music, and J-pop.

A few words about the original track, "Ketchup":

By all means, have your own interpretation of this song.

The initial inspiration was a cartoony vision of someone excitedly preparing a spread of food for others. The title comes from the art used in the original video for Ketchup. I appreciate its connotations for ballpark snacks and rowdy whistling, which was coincidental. To me, this track represents a successful attempt at cartoony, situational, very "daytime"-themed instrumental music. It's also the most fast-paced and loudest track I've made.

I've been wanting to rewrite Ketchup for months, to replace the guitar strummer plugin used in the original track. I decided to put it at the top of my 2018 project queue as a warm-up. For you guys. ;D

At first, I was only going to replace a few instruments. It's strange--writing about it now, I don't remember what prompted me to start trying to fix nearly everything about the song. I recall getting excited listening to the track after rudimentary cleanup. The week that followed was a blur of meticulous listening and re-listening, rendering and re-rendering, and trying to optimize the feeling here and there. Infuriatingly, much time was spent wrestling with how the feel of the song would change when rendered to an actual music file and played. But I suppose that's my fault being stubborn about letting the drums lash out with headroom-exceeding transients.

So just like the original Ketchup, this took much longer to make than planned. As infatuation with the music grew, I began adding non-trivial edits, such as extending the track. Every few experiments, I'd stumble upon a change for the way better, all the way to the last render. I heard these ideas subconsciously. Finally I'm satisfied, because any unwritten instrument I hear in the track, you can probably hear as well.

Kudos to FL Studio 12 for remaining stable in spite of enough instruments and effects to max out my PC's RAM.

It's done, and I'm feeling pretty "Ahhh~" about it. Download with the links above.
